Our team

The DarkCideS database started from the development of the “Bat Cave Vulnerability Index (BCVI)” project led by KCT, JAG, and ACH as part of the “Global Bat Cave Vulnerability and Conservation Mapping Initiative” in 2014, and later with the “Mapping Karst Biodiversity in Yunnan” and the “Southeast Asian Atlas of Biodiversity” projects awarded to Professor Alice C Hughes. In 2019-2020, the core team expand the project and invited colleagues working on bat cave ecology and conservation to promote wider collaboration and exchange, and eventually create a consortium to facilitate continuous and centralised data-sharing.

Currently, the DarkCideS consortium is composed of 36 collaborating members from twenty countries on six continents with expertise and research interests in bat conservation.
